...:: Wonderful photographs of Nature in America ::...
My friend, fan and collector of my art has finally published a wonderful calendar of his beautiful photographs! Over the years, Glen has shared hundreds of photos with me; all of them are high quality and should be published in a picture book (a "coffee table" book) for all to see! The images in this calendar is only a small glimpse of the vast amount of photos he has taken. This man has traveled the world with his camera; photographing the awesome beauty and wonder of our natural environment and its wildlife. His photos of tropical birds and butterflies and the lemurs of Madagascar are absolutely stunning; capturing a moment in time for us to view the intricacies of nature.
I have a ton of picture books of nature in my library. The photos by Glen Apseloff are just as good, if not better than most of images I view in those books.
I want to tell you something about him. Glen Apseloff is much more than a photographer. He was a math major at M.I.T.(Massachusetts Institute of Technology), and went to Ohio State University for his medical degree. His original specialty was obstetrics and gynecology, but he now spends most of his time doing drug research in a variety of different areas, and of course Dr. Apseloff spends much of his free time taking photographs and writing novels. He has an agent in New York who's working to get his novels published.
Glen Apseloff...
More than twenty years ago I became a medical doctor to help people, but before that I became a photographer to help wildlife. I bought my first 35-mm camera in 1981--a Nikon FM--and have been taking photographs ever since. Over the years, my cameras have become more sophisticated, but I try to keep my pictures simple. I’ve traveled as far as Madagascar to photograph animals in their native habitat, but some of my best pictures are from my own backyard. In the movement and daily activities of animals I see a beauty that is all too often underappreciated, or even unnoticed, and through the images I capture, I hope to raise awareness of this and to inspire others to make an effort to preserve the land that is vital to the survival of so many species.
