The form was completed by etching the scales. They were drawn first, then, scrimmed by outlining each scale - the scales within the light areas were gently stippled; just enough pressure was used to leave an impression. This maintains the illusion of the highlights. All of the scales were enhanced with more stippling to give the appearance of layering. This additional work portrays a more realistic look.

To complete the design, the fish and bubbles were stippled. Lastly, the piece was signed.
